I Can’t Get Through: Tips To Communicating With Your Teen

I can’t get through to them! I can’t get them to listen! Why don’t they talk to me? Do you ever find yourself thinking this when you are trying to talk to your children? During different stages of life, it can be quite challenging to communicate with your children. When they are babies, they can’t tell you what they want or need, so you have to rely on their facial expressions and cries. As they get older, they can tell you precisely what they want.  By the pre-teen and adolescent years, you may feel like you are back to the infant stage, trying to figure out what it is they are trying or not trying to tell you. There will be times when they are ready to tell you more than you might want to know, but it is essential to take the time to listen when they do speak. There can be subtle signs you may miss otherwise.
