Let’s talk SKIN! The skin is our first layer of defense against organisms entering our bodies, it is also the largest organ. The endocannabinoid systems works with the skin to help with regulation of the growth of cells. It also helps to control the immune function of the skin also known as “cutaneous homeostasis. The Endocannabinoid system also helps to block skin growth and promote wound healing. Through the function of the ECS (endocannabinoid system) we have found that our skin have both CB1 and CB2 receptors which in turn allow for “cannabinoids” to help in regulation or balance of the skin. Let’s discuss 2 skin disorders. Psoriasis is a condition known to most as itchy and flaky or scaling dry patches. Cases can be minor up to a severe case, and there are also variants of psoriasis, the most common one known as “plaque psoriasis. This is actually a condition where the skin cells accumulate or “multiply” fast and build up
causing the known patches. This disorder is also considered an autoimmune disorder. Psoriasis has been studied in the cannabis realm and linked to an imbalance of the endocannabinoid system
